This course, part 5 in an 8-part series of modules designed for completing the necessary educational requirements for a CDA renewal, explores causes and goals of behavior, attachment theory, how to plan for children who need additional support, and classroom strategies for guiding behavior. This module, which can be part of a 6-part Pre-Service training series, focuses on Core Competency 1: Participants will explore how children grow, develop, and learn, what to expect of children at different ages between birth and age five, and how to take into account the unique capabilities of each child.
Under the direction of the Executive Director of Early Learning, the Associate Center Director is responsible for managing and supervising all preschool program areas, including staff, and coordinating activities and record keeping for the Lealman YMCA Preschool Academy.
Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs staff. Responds to inquiries regarding program information and registration. Maintains cleanliness and organization of site and provides for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment.
Organizes special events and markets all YMCA programs. Assists in YMCA fund raising activities. Provides appropriate discipline and direct management of all children according to written policy.
Collects fees and implements site budget. Monitors, completes and submits all attendance requirements for site. Effectively handles all emergency incidents that occur in preschool program, using mature sound judgment.
Must be able to work rotating hours between 6am and 6: Pre-employment drug test and finger prints required. Minimum three years of experience in a preschool or child care setting. Must have CDA or equivalent and a Directors credential.
Excellent organizational, planning, communication and computer skills required. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Strong communication, supervisory and organizational skills.
